Botox(BOTOX™ Cosmetic)
BOTOX™ Cosmetic is the most requested anti-aging procedure. It is a purified protein toxin produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria. Although BOTOX™ Cosmetic is a toxin, there have been no serious side effects reported. This is because it is used in extremely small amounts and does not spread throughout the body.
A few drops of BOTOX™ Cosmetic are injected with a tiny needle into the muscle that creates a wrinkle. BOTOX™ Cosmetic blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area, causing the muscle to relax. As a result, the wrinkles in the overlying skin gradually soften, and sometimes even disappear, which leads to a more youthful, rested appearance. The most commonly treated areas are crows feet, frown lines, and forehead lines.
Our patients report a dramatic reduction in wrinkles and are very pleased with the results. If you are wondering if BOTOX™ Cosmetic treatments are for you, visit the BOTOX™ Cosmetic FAQ page, or schedule a consultation with one of our doctors.
